In the first two months of this year, Latvia imported forest products worth 142.226 million euros, which is 9.9% less than in the corresponding period of 2019, according to information published by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Of the total imports of forest products, the largest share, or 59.1% (a year earlier – 62.6%), consisted of wood and wood products, which were imported into Latvia in the amount of 84.031 million euros. Compared to the first two months of 2019, imports of wood and wood products have decreased by 15%.
Of this total, sawn timber was imported to the value of 18.193 million euros, which is 39.2% less than in the first two months of 2019, round timber – 14.642 million euros, which is 27.7% less than a year earlier, and firewood – 11.671 million euros, which is 6.5% more.
