Areas affected by forest fires in Croatia are being restored with the help of drones

In Croatia, a known method is being used for forest restoration in order to improve tactics slightly. Drones are being used to restore forest areas that have suffered from fires in the country's more remote regions. This is nothing new, but in Croatia, the seeds are placed in larger containers than is usual elsewhere. Of course, the size of the seed container is still not large - about the size of a golf ball - but the contents of the container, in the words of its 'creators', will help the seeds find the best possible microenvironment for germination. As the project's authors explain, the seed container contains not only seeds, but also sand, grass, clay and chilli. Why chilli? It deters wild animals that would happily eat certain types of seeds...
