Interior Minister Kristaps Eklons explained that active clearing of the border strip and land preparation works are currently underway. Although everything is planned "on paper", in reality, the builders are encountering problems – heavy machinery is sinking and work is unable to progress as quickly as one would like.

Asked whether these problems could lead to deviations from the final deadline set for the installation of the fence, the minister admitted that delays are possible and have already been observed in some sections, although for now they are insignificant.
