(...) Both the National Guard (Zemessardze) and the Latvian Hunters Association believe that the involvement of hunters in the comprehensive national defence concept has great significance and potential. The partners expressed their readiness to continue work and strengthen cooperation in several directions:

– Promoting the involvement of hunters in national defence by joining the ranks of the National Guard or through reserve soldier status;

– Building cooperation between the National Guard and hunters who have voluntarily expressed a wish to participate in national defence should the need arise.

The parties agreed to develop an action plan to inform hunters about opportunities to get involved in improving national defence capabilities, as well as to create a system that would allow hunters who wish to voluntarily participate in national defence to contact the National Guard and receive information and instructions on further action.

The Latvian Hunters Association will take on the responsibility of informing hunters about opportunities to join the National Guard, while the National Guard will take on the management of information events. This will initially take place in the responsibility centres of the four National Guard brigades (Kurzeme, Latgale, Riga and Vidzeme), and later, as required, in battalion responsibility areas, by preparing training materials and conducting training for volunteer hunters on issues related to comprehensive national defence.
