Birch is one of the most important tree species in Latvia's national economy. Birch wood has been used in industry for more than a hundred years, not to mention households, where birch has been used since ancient times. For several decades now, Latvian forest scientists have been conducting research on the cultivation and utilisation of birch. Forest owners see birch as an excellent tree species for their present and future forests. The portal "Apollo.lv" has clarified the basic principles of birch cultivation.
