For a few years now, horticultural specialist and Rural Advisory Centre expert Māris Narvils has been trying to acclimatise paulownia trees, planting them in Gramzda parish, South Kurzeme municipality. He is not sceptical about paulownias and knows that like-minded people will soon be establishing a paulownia enthusiasts' association.

Paulownias definitely require four conditions to overwinter and grow, and all of them together – fertile land sheltered from the wind, regular watering, and pruning to ensure a single trunk grows without side branches. According to M. Narvils, if you fall into the trap of advertisements and order cuttings, they must be placed in moist peat immediately after delivery.

M. Narvils spoke positively about his experiments and wishes to dedicate more careful attention to the cultivation of these plants.
