Gauja National Park Day will take place at the Līgatne Nature Trails on Saturday, 3 June, from 11.00 to 15.00, where visitors can explore the riches of the national park through educational and creative activities.

Visitors will be invited to join special games and a creative workshop by the event's special guest, Anda Andrušaite, head of the Nature Conservation Agency's Gauja National Park nature education centre, who for several decades has been teaching, demonstrating and sharing information about the park's natural values both in Latvia and abroad as a representative of the park.

“The park can be compared to a treasure trove of nature, because it contains rivers, valleys, forests, meadows, waterfalls, marshes, caves and rock outcrops, as well as many other natural elements. Humans are also a part of nature and often yearn to understand why and how the interaction between people and nature takes place. We will be looking for the answers to these questions on Saturday at the Līgatne Nature Trails,” says Anda Andrušaite, head of the agency's Gauja National Park nature centre.

Gauja National Park is the first and oldest national park in Latvia, which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of its establishment. Therefore, the Līgatne Nature Trails, the creation and history of which are closely linked to the history of the national park, invite everyone to pay special attention to the park's natural and cultural-historical riches this year. At the same time, the park is also the most popular nature tourism destination, attracting visitors with its magnificent Gauja ancient valley, Latvia's largest Devonian sandstone outcrops, unique landscapes and sites of cultural and historical interest.
