Forestry sector and car usage in Finland under OECD scrutiny

An OECD environmental report states that Finland must continue to implement and work towards achieving its own ambitious climate targets, rather than setting new ones.

Finland has clearly reduced carbon emissions, but not fast enough, according to the latest OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) environmental report. It states that the Nordic country has chosen to be a leader in environmental policy and ambitious goals, but that not everything is being done to achieve the targets it has set for itself. Greenhouse gas emissions have undoubtedly fallen over the last decade, but they should be falling faster. Volumes of waste, consumption and nutrient runoff into water bodies are increasing. Agriculture and the forestry sector continue to impact the country's biodiversity, the report concludes.
