Extensive modernisation works at the Faculty of Forest Sciences

The building of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies' Faculty of Forest Sciences in Jelgava, at 11 Akadēmijas Street, has been undergoing extensive changes since last year. Not only are all four facades of the building being given a new look, but the lecture theatres, laboratories, corridors and other rooms have become brighter and sunnier.

More than 1.2 million euros have been invested in the renovation and improvement of the premises, mainly by attracting European Union funding. The visual design of the rooms has been created specifically for the Faculty of Forest Sciences, while ensuring the study environment is modern and contemporary.

Alongside the aesthetic transformations, much has been done to ensure the study environment becomes more modern and adds value to the study process. The premises have not only been renovated but are now equipped with new furniture and multimedia systems. The large amphitheatre lecture hall and the 5th-floor conference hall have been equipped with modern multimedia and sound equipment. New computers have been purchased for the computer lab. The faculty's information centre and library have been modernised. New functional furniture has been placed in the lobbies, and power sockets and wireless internet access have been provided so that students can study comfortably in their spare time. Several new laboratories have been created at the Faculty of Forest Sciences. All of the new laboratories will serve not only for mastering specific study courses but also for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge about forestry and forest processes.
