Businesses aiming to reach so-called net zero emissions are being confused and deterred by the terminology used and by inaccurate information, according to the British-based "Carbon Trust" (The Carbon Trust).
"There is a clear desire to simplify any explanation to make it more understandable, but when discussing a technical process, over-simplification can reach the point where the explanation, while easy to grasp, no longer corresponds to the truth," emphasised the Trust's communications manager. Incidentally, it is precisely this understanding—what the difference is between net zero emissions and carbon neutrality—that causes the greatest concern, as many business leaders are only just beginning to realise that these are two different concepts and distinct processes.
