The Elku lime (Valdemārpils, Talsi district) has been named European Tree of the Year in Latvia 2025, with the Skrīveri oak row (Skrīveri, Aizkraukle district) taking second place and the Zābakkalns oak (Ragana, Sigulda district) third.
