Building a new plant in the Ida-Viru region (Estonia) is reasonable from a socio-economic point of view, believes the Estonian Minister of the Environment.
"It is clear that in terms of climate change (to stop or slow down the changes) active action is necessary, but... when taking active action, one must not forget the specifics of each region; social aspects must be taken into account, especially in the Ida-Viru region. The 'turn in a green direction' should happen while thinking about the benefit and well-being of the inhabitants, not at the expense of this benefit or well-being!"
Estonia and the European Union have recently been investing heavily in the Ida-Viru region. The construction of the plant is very important for the region, as it will guarantee and allow the preservation of existing jobs while creating new ones.
