In the twenties and thirties, there were nearly a hundred bicycle manufacturers operating in Latvia, so it is perhaps a little strange that in the 21st century Latvians have left this industry neglected. However, it is not entirely true that this bicycle production niche is completely empty for us – in Riga, the heir of the legendary Gustavs Ērenpreiss, Toms Ērenpreiss, is active, and in Dobele, the "Barons velo" brand workshop is in operation, managed by Arvīds Borherts-Smiļģis. That is where "Deviņvīri" went to visit, to take a look at how these specially made Latvian bicycles are crafted. Especially because they are manufactured to individual order.
