One of Latvia's leading timber industry companies, STIGA RM, has signed a cooperation agreement with the construction firm BauArt on the building of a new plant in Ogre. A ceremonial laying of a time capsule is already planned for the end of October to mark the laying of the new plant's foundations. Over the next three years, a production facility for large-format and non-standard birch plywood will be built in Ogre, substantially expanding the company's production capacity and strengthening Latvia's position as an export-capable country in international markets.

"This will be the third STIGA RM wood-processing facility, and each of them has been built in cooperation with BauArt. I am confident that this time too we will establish excellent cooperation and that this project will become one of the most striking examples of industrial development in the Baltics," says Andris Ramoliņš, owner and chairman of the board of STIGA RM.

Representatives of BauArt also stress that this is one of the company's largest projects in recent years. "Building a plant is a technologically and engineering-wise complex project that demands high precision and a professional approach. We are proud of the opportunity to develop a new industrial flagship in Latvia together with Stiga RM," emphasises Alvis Krēķis, chairman of the board and commercial director of BauArt.

The new plant will be located on a site historically occupied by a sawmill, transforming it into a modern industrial centre with a sustainable development vision. The facility is to be developed in two stages, with full completion planned by 2029. The project's total costs will reach around 92 million euros, with state co-financing also being attracted.
