Communicating vessels – individual, company, society

The most effective strategy for curbing a virus in the corporate environment is remote working. However, there are a number of fields where this is objectively impossible. For instance, employees in industrial companies must regularly go to work and often work side-by-side, as dictated by technological processes. This also applies to the company "Latvijas Finieris". Therefore, our main task under pandemic conditions is to reduce the risk of the disease spreading within the company, while doing so as effectively as possible to ensure a stable situation in the long term.

Ever since March of last year, we have been working purposefully in two directions. Firstly, in accordance with the latest scientific findings regarding the nature of the virus, we are regularly assessing and enhancing the understanding of "Latvijas Finieris" employees on how to ensure a safe working environment. Secondly, we are purposefully urging our colleagues to heed the recommendations of epidemiologists in order to act responsibly together. By responsible behaviour, we mean that the employee understands the importance of restrictions not only in production facilities because it is written in the regulations and required by a manager, but also when closing the doors of the workplace and heading home. Both aspects – reducing the spread of the disease within the company and fostering responsible behaviour on a wider scale outside the company – are closely linked. This is currently almost the primary corporate responsibility that employers should recognise and implement.
