The Green and Burgundy Spoon is the only state food quality mark in Latvia, which was developed by a wide range of experts, from industry associations, agricultural and food experts, to scientists and university faculty. The most important part of the story about the Green and Burgundy Spoon is that by supporting this quality system, we are promoting local food producers, growers, and farms.

It is important to us that there are jobs in Latvia, that there are production facilities in Latvia, and that there are people in Latvia who love their work and are prepared to produce and sell quality goods. This could be a beekeeper, a small producer who makes cakes, a farm that commits to labelling its produce with the spoon quality mark, or equally a large producer prepared to meet even higher requirements for dozens of products than those stipulated by Latvian and European Union regulations. And in the sales process, the spoon quality mark on the packaging can help sell more and make it easier to recognise the local product.
