The new TV series “The Traitor” begins with a scene in which a spy runs through a forest, trying to escape from pursuers. That is how we imagine real secret operations that have taken place in Estonia. But are there not wider and better-hidden propaganda activities occurring in our forests? It would only be logical.

Alongside donations and state funds, large amounts of private capital circulate in the field of nature conservation. “Green” activity has a positive impact on the image of large companies, particularly those that would otherwise be subject to accusations of environmental pollution.

Last year, the newspaper “Maaleht” published information that nature conservationists were searching for habitats of rare species in Estonian forests thanks to funds from the company “NordStream”. This company will very soon complete the construction of its second gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea.
