As part of the #BalticSea2Land project, and marking the start of the development of the thematic plan for the Kurzeme coast, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM), on behalf of the Kurzeme Planning Region, invites residents to participate in a survey by 30 November this year to gather public opinion on the values of the Kurzeme coast and issues to be addressed in coastal development. The survey is designed within the ArcGIS system, and residents are invited to answer several questions related to the coast and its development, as well as to mark coastal values on a map.

The coast of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga is a valuable and resource-rich area, which serves as a significant advantage for the diverse and integrated development of the Kurzeme region. At the same time, conflicts of interest and problems arise in these territories that exceed the remit of individual municipalities and sectors, therefore cooperation and comprehensive solutions are required. Planning territory: territorial units of coastal municipalities bordering the sea (coastal parishes and towns), including marine coastal waters 2 km from the coastline.
