Aigars Rostovskis: I call on the Prime Minister to publicly apologise to all Latvian entrepreneurs

The Prime Minister’s publicly expressed claim that the public supports entrepreneurs with their taxes is completely false, offensive to entrepreneurs, and unfairly divides society. Given that the money in the state budget is primarily earned by entrepreneurs and their teams, I call on the Prime Minister to publicly apologise to all entrepreneurs for this offensive and untrue statement.

Everything begins with an understanding of where money comes from. It does not appear in the state budget out of nowhere; money comes from business, most notably from companies engaged in export. Exporting companies, by selling their goods and services outside Latvia’s borders, bring money into our state budget from abroad. Likewise, entrepreneurs working in the domestic market create jobs, goods, services, and consequently, money. Since money is generated as a result of market relationships – if there are no entrepreneurs and no business activity, there is no money created to redistribute, put into the state budget, and use to implement state functions.
