If the minister does not apologise by 11:00 on 28 May, non-governmental organisations in the Latvian agricultural and forestry sectors threaten to follow the example of farmers in Germany and France by organising large-scale protest actions.
In a letter sent to VARAM by agricultural and forestry organisations commenting on the audio advertisement broadcast on EHR on 20 May, it is emphasised that "the recording is a crude division of society and the cultivation of intolerance, deliberately and offensively targeting the agricultural sector". At the same time, the organisations stress that for Latvian farmers, foresters, and their representative non-governmental organisations, the way in which the agricultural sector of Latvia is being discredited and publicly slandered using co-funding from the LVAF, which is administered by VARAM, is categorically unacceptable.
To resolve the current situation and prevent similar situations from arising in the future, the organisations representing the agricultural and forestry sectors demand a public apology from the chairman of the LVAF council and Artūrs Toms Plešs, as well as from the managers of SIA "EHR mediju grupa", Rihards Zaks and Uģis Polis.
