Once this nightmare is over…

In this case, I am much more interested in other aspects. One of them is impolitely selfish – if we are realistic and understand that some of the people who have arrived in Latvia from Ukraine will stay here for longer than a few months or half a year, the question is how the relationship between these people and Putin's local supporters will develop. There is no hidden fear of conflict in this question, nor a desire to hush the refugees for the sake of peace and quiet. No, let the Ukrainians in Latvia react however they see fit. It is simply a desire to understand what, in all probability, awaits us. The second aspect could be formulated as follows: do the people in Russia themselves understand that, in all probability, they will be hated for years to come not by the mythical "pindosi" (a derogatory term used in Russia for Americans), "Pribalti" or "perverted Europeans", but by a historically truly (leaving aside the Kremlin's delusional ideas) close, Orthodox, and – importantly! – numerous Slavic nation? It is clear that this is empty talk on my part, but if I were a person in Russia, I would think about this a great deal – will the Ukrainians forgive them or will they not?
