Research on the use of DNA samples for monitoring the status of the lynx population

The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of non-invasive monitoring methods (hair traps and trail cameras) under Latvian conditions and to analyse the results obtained from the samples, thereby creating prerequisites and developing recommendations for the further improvement of the Eurasian lynx monitoring system. The study will serve as a methodological basis for transitioning to a Eurasian lynx monitoring system that is independent of data obtained from hunted or deceased animals.
