It is expected that from 1 October the 13 rural parish administrations currently operating in Gulbene municipality will be reorganised into four parish associations. Each association will be headed by an association manager, who will be selected for the post through an open competition.
A majority of Gulbene municipality councillors approved this plan in principle at a joint committee meeting on 23 May. Ten councillors voted in favour of continuing work on such a plan and of putting the final decision on the matter to the next meeting of the municipal council. Normunds Audzišs voted against, while Ainārs Brezinskis, Atis Jencītis and Lāsma Gabdulļina abstained. Councillor Intars Liepiņš did not attend the committee meeting.
Each association will have a single manager
Four parish associations are planned. One association would comprise Ranka, Lizums, Druviena and Tirza. The second association – Lejasciems and Beļava. The third association – Stāmeriena, Litene and Stradi. The fourth association will be made up of Galgauska, Jaungulbene, Līgo and Daukstes.
