On Tuesday, 13 July, at 15.00, a capsule containing a message for future society will be laid in the foundations of the Interdisciplinary Scientific Laboratory building of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU) Forest Faculty (located at 41 Dobeles Street, Jelgava).
The capsule laying ceremony will be attended by: LLU Rector, Academician Irina Pilvere; Dean of the LLU Forest Faculty, Professor Linards Sisenis; Head of the Office of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Latvia, Jānis Eglīts; Chairman of the Jelgava State City Council, Andris Rāviņš; LLU Honorary Doctor and Chairman of the Council of AS “Latvijas Finieris”, Uldis Biķis; and Chairman of the Board of SIA "Igate būve", Māris Peilāns.
The laboratory will serve as a knowledge transfer bridge between science, education, and industry, and is the only one of its kind in Latvia. Spanning an area of 740 m2, it will host a wide range of research activities concerning wood, wood products, and raw materials in the following key areas:
