A development that could reach the market next year. Research suggests that in the near future it will be possible to successfully combat the Zika virus, coronaviruses and enteroviruses using biological raw materials from Finnish forests. The substance obtained destroys viruses on various surfaces as well as on the skin. It has been observed to have active antimicrobial properties and is based on raw materials from the forest.
The above is the result of a collaboration between the Natural Resources Institute Finland and the University of Jyväskylä. It is expected that the biological agent will have significant market potential.
