This year the “Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia” competition received a total of 43 building entries, the largest number of which – 32 – are competing for the title in the category “Most Energy-Efficient Renovated Apartment Building in Latvia 2024”.

In the category “Most Energy-Efficient Detached House in Latvia” one entry was submitted – Celmu iela 20, Jaunmārupe, Mārupe municipality.

Now in its 14th year, the “Dzīvo siltāk” campaign run by the Ministry of Economics holds the “Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia” competition with the aim of promoting good practice in building energy efficiency and sustainability through the construction, renovation and reconstruction of energy-efficient buildings, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and raising public awareness of well-being, the thermal performance of buildings, indoor climate, and the importance of and opportunities for cutting greenhouse gas emissions, in order to create a high-quality, architecturally expressive living environment.

Entries for the “Most Energy-Efficient Building in Latvia 2024” competition were invited by 18 June this year. Over the summer the competition jury will assess all the entries received, decide which buildings go through to the second round of judging, and carry out on-site inspections of the buildings. The competition winners are due to be honoured in September this year.

The competition rules were drawn up in cooperation with the partners of the “Dzīvo siltāk” information campaign – the State Construction Control Bureau, the State Fire and Rescue Service, the European Commission Representation in Latvia, AS “Sadales tīkls”, the Elektrum Energy Efficiency Centre, the Rural Support Service, the Riga Energy Agency, Riga Technical University, Rīga Stradiņš University, the Latvian Association of Building Managers and Administrators, the Latvian Association of Window and Door Manufacturers, the Association of Building Material Producers, the Latvian Association of Mineral Wool Producers, the Latvian Union of Heating, Gas and Water Technology Engineers, the Finance Latvia Association and SIA “Publisko aktīvu pārvaldītājs Possessor”.

The competition is supported by SIA “Paroc”, SIA “Saint-Gobain Celtniecības produkti”, SIA “Knauf”, SIA “Rockwool”, the development finance institution “Altum”, AS “Latvenergo”, VentSys, AS “Rīgas siltums”, SIA “Robert Bosch”, SIA “Innovation B&G”, Proclima, Enervent and SIA “Web Multishop Company”.
