The main goals are a gradual phase-out of the use of fossil resources and a move towards CO2-neutral processes. Wood products, including birch plywood, have significant advantages in achieving these goals, which will undeniably increase demand in the future.

Moreover, this applies not only to traditional sectors where wood has already been widely used, but also to entirely new areas where the development of wood chemical processing technologies will replace petroleum-based materials.

“Everything we produce today from oil could be produced from wood tomorrow, so the future depends on identifying these opportunities and increasing intersectoral interaction. This will certainly give not only the forestry sector but the entire Latvian economy the opportunity to make even better use of the forest's economic potential across the entire value chain,” points out U.
