At the “Zīles” farm in Ošupe parish, Madona municipality, which specialises in sheep farming, a pack of wolves has visited several evenings in a row, including the night leading into today, 11 July.

Despite an electric fence, and the fact that the sheep were driven into a paddock near the barn following the first attacks, a total of 71 animals have been injured or killed.

The owner, Armands Kozulis, estimates the losses caused by the wolves to be between five and ten thousand euros. What worries him even more is that, in principle, he is defenceless against the wolves.
