Hunters emphasise that increasing quotas is not merely in their personal interest, as dozens of households suffer because of wolves every year, as do other wild animals.

Aldis Bondars, a representative of the State Forest Service, says: “We have found slaughtered moose calves. The wolves have held a feast there, everything is torn up and urinated on. You can see that there was a very good, large kill. Well… if they are targeting moose, it means there are very many wolves.”
