Will we be able to mitigate climate change and live in a more nature-friendly way?

We recently received news that 112 bus routes are being closed in Latvia. Following this, cries of despair have already emerged from several places, saying that people will not be able to get to the doctor and so on. Since the Tukums – Rīga buses stopped running, residents of the Ozolpils area have also had problems getting to Tukums and back. The Minister, who emphasises that the backbone of Latvia’s public transport is the railway, is apparently not taking into account that the Ventspils highway is located far enough away from the railway and that residents of villages along the highway also need transport. And this is the case in more than just one rural village. If you do not live in a city, then you cannot manage without your own car. It is good that a space has been created at the Tukums railway station where many leave their cars and head to work in Rīga. But it is not as if this car park is overflowing. Therefore, many still head to work in Rīga in their own cars and the Ventspils highway is quite congested. Furthermore, fuel, which is unfriendly to nature, is being consumed recklessly. Should we not be incentivising people to travel by train, even if it means offering cheaper tickets?
