Europe does not support one specific company or lobby, but rather the intelligent specialisation of entire regional economies. Intelligent specialisation primarily means cooperation between different sectors to support common development goals. Secondly, it serves as an argument for securing funds from several European funds and programmes simultaneously, for example, from the European Regional Development Fund and the Horizon Europe research support programme.

Thirdly, intelligent specialisation is not a topic for backroom conversations between a mayor and individual entrepreneurs, but rather a public dialogue between the local government, entrepreneurs, educational and research institutions, non-governmental organisations, and society as a whole.
