An international conference on climate issues is scheduled for November in Glasgow. In anticipation of this, the term "nature-based solutions" has appeared in international discourse, which in colloquial terms could also be understood as "natural..." or "nature-aligned decisions".

This term, as one might guess, was coined in the corridors or offices of the UN, where it is highly praised. Policy makers and environmental conservation organisations (so-called environmental NGOs), as well as some international corporations and various activist groups, are doubtful about this term and its concept.

Critics of the idea warn that "nature-based solutions" could be used in the interests of international corporations and greenwashers to use financial influence to maintain existing carbon emissions and continue a destructive attitude towards the environment.
