The European Commission (EC) has published its 4th proposal for rules restricting the use of lead ammunition in wetlands. EU member states will deliberate and vote on this "proposal" on 3 September in the EU REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) Committee.

The EU's revised "proposal" remains overly ambitious, disproportionate, and discriminatory. It still fails to address the problems identified in the first three versions of the draft rules. The most significant objection: the norms included in this (4th) proposal could cause a series of legal issues not only for hunters in Europe but also for the authorities responsible for monitoring and enforcing these restrictions.
