Beyond the confines of this world: a solar array in space could provide electricity to a million homes.
It sounds like science fiction, but one day Europe could be powered by electricity via giant floating solar panels orbiting the planet.
The European Space Agency (ESA) has revealed a plan to collect solar energy in space and beam it back down to Earth.
The technology is still in the early testing phase, but the goal is to build a 2 km-long space solar park that would generate as much energy as a nuclear power plant. The park would be in orbit 36,000 km above the Earth.
