The race for position in the global competition for environmentally friendly energy production has begun. The United States (USA) only joined this race two months ago, when the Inflation Reduction Act was passed. Since then, Austria, for example, has announced a subsidy package worth 5.7 billion euros; this investment per capita is equivalent to that planned by the USA. However, given that an increasing number of national governments are choosing industrial policy as a means of transforming their economies, the main task will be to decide which green technology solutions should be supported.
