When will we feel the effects of the decisions made at COP26 in Glasgow?

The COP26 meeting in Glasgow begs the question: "When will decisions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions begin to have a real impact on the climate?" At this same meeting, we learned about a new European initiative - using satellite equipment for CO2 emission measurements.

Some of the most important decisions from the Glasgow meeting:

  1. around 100 world leaders pledged to halt deforestation by 2030
  2. around 100 world leaders pledged to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030
  3. 40 world leaders, including countries that are heavily economically dependent on coal mining and use, confirmed a step-by-step commitment to phase out coal mining and usage
  4. Cooperation between the USA and China on the issue of methane emissions, with a view towards the transition to clean energy and decarbonisation

Many (hundreds of) financial institutions and businesses have decided to return to commitments to move away from the use of fossil fuels.
