There is no longer a legal path for descendants of Baltic German families to recover their former properties. It is essential to understand this to prevent new myths and assumptions about these possibilities from forming in the social and political space.

Given that manors and palaces are an essential and integral part of the Latvian historical landscape, it would be worth considering cooperation with those descendants of Baltic German families who have expressed a desire to return here or manage their family's former estates. Perhaps this could be a long-term lease with conditions or some other legal form.
