We invite you to take part in the public consultation on the EU “stress test” of the Birds and Habitats Directives

To help find better ways of implementing the EU's nature protection requirements, the Ministry of Agriculture invites farmers, foresters, fishermen, hunters, non-governmental organisations and other interested parties to take part in the public consultation run by the European Commission (EC) on the evaluation, or “stress test”, of the Birds and Habitats Directives.

During this consultation, the EC is gathering views on how the directives governing the protection of wild birds, habitats and species are implemented in practice across the EU. Respondents are invited to put forward concrete proposals for reducing the administrative burden and making the requirements simpler to apply and more cost-effective.

The public consultation runs from 12 May to 10 August 2026 (until midnight Brussels time). You can take part by filling in an online questionnaire on the EC's portal in any official EU language.

The link to the public consultation is available here.
