We do not have oil, but we have a renewable raw material – wood and biomass

From the phenol fraction, it is possible to obtain biopolymer resins and antioxidants, which every person needs to maintain their health. Carbohydrate pyrolysis products, in turn, have a very rich chemical composition. I can mention anhydrosugars, which have complex formulas and names – levoglucosan and levoglucosenone.

Levoglucosan is a crystalline substance, while levoglucosenone is a liquid oil. Biopolymers can be obtained from anhydrosugars. Levoglucosan can be converted into glucose and, through further fermentation, into biofuel.

Pharmaceutical products – medications for oncology treatment – can be obtained from anhydrosugars. In Japan, anhydrosugars are synthesised from oil, and the price of one gram of the substance ranges from 120 to 400 euros.
