The candidate evaluation commission has nominated Andris Ķēniņš for the position of Deputy State Secretary for Environmental Protection at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM), and Dagnis Dubrovskis for the position of Deputy State Secretary for Climate Policy.

Dagnis Dubrovskis was nominated for the position of Deputy State Secretary for Climate Policy at VARAM due to his professionalism and the skills required for the role. D. Dubrovskis obtained a doctorate in forestry science at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in 2007. Since 2008, he has been a leading researcher at the university's Faculty of Forestry. From 2003 to 2017, he held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, while over the last seven years, he has contributed to the faculty's teaching staff as a professor and, from 2020, as a visiting associate professor. Since 2017, Dagnis Dubrovskis has held the position of leading expert at a/s Latvijas valsts meži.
