Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved the supervisory board of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine": it will comprise Markiyan Vytvytskyi (Markiyan Vytvytskyi), Roberts Strīpnieks and Janne Risto Samuel Harjunpää as independent board members, and Oleksiy Kucher (Oleksiy Kucher), head of Ukraine's State Regulatory Service, as the state's representative.

Roberts Strīpnieks has more than 25 years of experience in Latvian forestry, including some 20 years in management. Under his leadership, the state joint-stock company "Latvijas valsts meži" introduced a new timber sales system and contract trading, established an independent timber measurement system, and rolled out the latest IT systems for production planning and support. Roberts has experience in delivering investment projects and in carrying out financial and operational audits of companies. He has worked with representatives of Ukraine's forestry sector, including as a consultant on the draft development plan for the Ukrainian forestry sector.

Janne Harjunpää is from Finland. He has 30 years of experience in international banking and finance, with in-depth knowledge of non-performing loan management, bank and corporate restructuring, digitalisation and financial advisory services. Janne has served as a staff consultant to the World Bank. Over the course of his career he has organised the management of corporate financial assets in some 30 countries. Working with non-performing loans, he has carried out many practically successful corporate restructurings and turnarounds, both for small and medium-sized enterprises and for large corporations. Janne has the knowledge and a proven track record in crisis management in the banking sector. He promotes the business development of leading Finnish companies in Ukraine, Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

Markiyan Vytvytskyi worked for 15 years in public administration, the environment, natural resources and healthcare in Canada. He was involved in the optimisation and digitalisation of Canada's forestry sector, as a result of which the number of institutions fell from 30 to 9, while costs were cut by 15%. The forestry control system was fully digitalised. Markiyan gained in-depth experience in managing cross-border transactions and building strategic partnerships while serving as vice-president for innovation and technology at the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce. He has achieved a 95% delivery rate in project implementation.
