Buying a train ticket to travel across Europe is an expensive nightmare. Every passenger who has bought an international train ticket knows the question: "Is the price worth the long journey?" Especially when there is a plane "at hand" that makes the journey look faster and cheaper. Taking all this into account, it is no surprise that only 7% of distance travelled "on the ground" in Europe is covered by train. It is a surprising fact that the majority view is wrong - train tickets are not more expensive than plane tickets.
