The EU Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on Wednesday, 21 April, on the European Climate Law proposal, which includes a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, reports the Belgian news portal EurActiv.
Following tense 14-hour negotiations between the EU Council, the European Parliament and the Portuguese EU Presidency, an agreement was reached to set this target, using the greenhouse gas levels of 1990 as a baseline.
