The government is attempting to reduce nitrogen pollution, thereby reigniting tensions with farmers who claim that the sector is being unfairly targeted.
In order to comply with EU nature conservation regulations, the Dutch government plans to purchase and close up to 3,000 farms located near environmentally sensitive areas.
