It is often mentioned that there will be more storms in Latvia. But the number of storms is not increasing. This is reflected by the number of stormy days. These are 24-hour periods when the average wind speed reaches at least 10.8 m/s. There were years when Liepāja had 35–37 stormy days. However, over the last ten years, there have been only three such days in total.
There will be snow this winter. There will also be more whirlwinds and insects. How could changes in weather conditions affect forestry?
