What is hindering the greater use of wood in construction in Latvia?

Firstly, there is a deficit of information and knowledge regarding the physical and chemical properties of timber, old stereotypes about wood being a fire hazard, which is not true, as fire-testing experiments prove the opposite, as well as a shortage of qualified timber construction specialists. Of course, alongside the aforementioned facts, one should also consider state policy, which manifests itself both in public and municipal procurement, as well as bans or, conversely, implemented instruments for promoting the use of wood.
