The world still does not understand Ukraine and Ukrainians. Many people in Ukraine are prepared to live on buckwheat for years if necessary to defeat Russia.
The war in Ukraine is becoming complicated, and America is not ready for it
On Thursday, the US Senate passed an emergency aid package for Ukraine worth 40 billion US dollars, but given that a small group of isolationist Republicans are loudly criticising the spending and that the war has entered a new and more complex phase, continued bipartisan support for Ukraine is not guaranteed.
US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines recently warned the Senate Armed Services Committee that the next few months could be volatile, stating that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia could take a "more unpredictable and potentially escalatory trajectory", with an increased likelihood that Russia could threaten the use of nuclear weapons.
These are extraordinary costs and serious dangers, and yet there are many questions that President Biden has yet to answer to the American public regarding the continued US involvement in this conflict.
