The 180-metre-tall timber high-rise will operate entirely on renewable electricity; its facade will be partially covered by solar panels that will generate exactly as much electricity as it consumes. In a press release, the architectural firm "BVN" explains that the construction process of the Sydney timber tower will produce 50% fewer carbon emissions than skyscrapers of the same size built from traditional materials. Furthermore, once completed, the building will consume 50% less electricity than structures of the same size. The company plans to reduce electricity consumption through thoughtful architectural design; specifically, the building will be constructed to maximise natural light in interior spaces and will feature a tactically planned natural ventilation system. Naturally lit rooms and cooled air will reduce the need for artificial lighting and air conditioning.
