In their final plenary session on 27 October, the 13th Saeima deputies approved amendments to the Labour Law in the final reading, which provide for a minimum monthly wage of 620 euros from next year, and 700 euros from 2024.
This decision was taken hastily, ignoring the usual consultation cycle with employers and employees. Furthermore, the decision-making process failed to take into account employers' objections regarding the consequences that could arise, placing an additional burden on employers during the energy crisis, the Employers' Confederation of Latvia (LDDK) points out.
