(...) “Until now, the Latvian government has only ever seen borrowing money and throwing it into the void as the sole solution in any situation, rather than investing it in the future and development,” says Edgars Kots, owner of SIA Izdevniecība Dienas mediji.
“A crisis in itself is nothing bad, as it always offers opportunities; this situation only becomes dangerous if the crisis is managed incorrectly, and the state has not proven itself to be a good crisis manager so far,” notes E. Kots.
“I believe that we are currently not building a sustainable state, because demographics and education have been neglected for years, yet these areas are the foundation of the country's future,” reasons the owner of SIA Izdevniecība Dienas mediji, adding that the state currently evaluates its investments in a shallow and short-sighted manner. “It is very important to foresee tomorrow, which is why today's decisions must also be based on future development,” says E. Kots.
